Inaugural Bones For A Cure benefits children affected by sickle cell disease

Beta Psi Lambda partnered with the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California to host a barbecue cookoff.

Christmas and BBQ all on the 4th of July! On such a beautiful Saturday, The LA Alphas, in association with the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California, held the inaugural Bones For A Cure event. This competitive BBQ smoke-off was for bragging rights of who could smoke the best ribs all to the delight of those in attendance. The proceeds from this culinary competition benefited A Season of Joy…A complete Christmas experience for children suffering from Sickle Cell Disease and their families. According to Brother Byron G. Mobley, Sr., Chapter President of Alpha Phi Alpha’s Los Angeles Alumni Chapter (Beta Psi Lambda), “Our commitment to the Sickle Cell community is unwavering.” He adds, “What more can you ask for than a beautiful  day, wonderful people and the opportunity to spread the awareness and understanding of this ravaging disease, while raising funds to support the children who suffer from it.” A special shout out to the lovely women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Gamma Omega chapter for their support, as well as the beautiful ladies from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Long Beach Alumnae Chapter!!!
